With curiosity at her core, Molly Mae is driven in both life and art to discover.

Beginning as an apprentice in fine art at age seven, has molded me into the multimedia artist I am today. Fast forward seven-teen years, and themes of grief, discovery, connection, and home are a constant in my life and work. Working with acrylic on canvas, that I stretch myself, is one form of translation in my mid-Minnesota home studio.

Painting concepts begin while in motion, on a walk, washing dishes, or hands in the garden. Eventually forming into sketches, underpaintings, then final products, but attention is not my strong suit, with as many as 5-10 pieces in progress at a time.

As a neurodivergent, who struggles to spell neurodivergent, my personal life and interests are innately intertwined with my art and vice-versa. Creativity is just curiosity and innovation and for me that expends to all things I pursue. From the topics I read about (food regeneration, its politics and preservation, the microbiome, and personal equilibrium) to the actions and activities that put it in motion (gardening, fermenting, bone collecting, and just getting the hands dirty) I strive to push the common narrative of the artist and the expectations that follow.

Creating is the thing I love and hate the most, but is the medium in which I understand; what it means to be woven in this discipline, community, and earth.
